The Question of Solicitation (Pamphlet)

This pamphlet discusses the matter of asking others to join Masonry, usually referred to as solicitation, which is a perplexing problem to many members of the Fraternity and is appropriate for all audiences. We do not have a written policy that prohibits solicitation but we do have a tradition that discourages direct recruitment. This tradition has become an unwritten rule, probably unique to our Order. It certainly sets us apart from most clubs, societies, and similar organizations. The tradition allows an applicant to sign his application, and later respond to the question on improper solicitation without hesitancy or doubt.
